Neil Clarke is a Hugo Award-winning and World Fantasy Award-nominated American editor and publisher. He is the owner of Wyrm Publishing and the publisher/editor of Clarkesworld Magazine, an online science fiction/fantasy magazine.
In 2009, Clarkesworld, edited by Neil Clarke, Nick Mamatas, and Sean Wallace, was nominated[1] for a Hugo Award in the category Best Semiprozine. This coincidentally occurred in the same year that the World Science Fiction Society was slated to ratify an amendment to the awards rules which would eliminate the Semiprozine category. Clarke successfully spearheaded the resistance to this by establishing the "Save The Semiprozine" group[2] online and rallying supporters to vote down the amendment. Clarkesworld later went on to win the Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine Hugo in 2010 and 2011.[3][4]
Neil Clarke was also nominated[5] for a World Fantasy Award in 2009 and 2010 for his work on Clarkesworld. Additionally, "A Buyer's Guide to Maps of Antarctica," a short story by Catherynne M. Valente which was published in Clarkesworld 5/08, was nominated[6] for the 2009 World Fantasy Award for Best Short Story.
Prior to publishing Clarkesworld, he ran the online bookstore Clarkesworld Books for nearly eight years. Clarke is a graduate of Drew University.
